Dr. Elaine Yong is a gastroenterologist and is the Division Head of Gastroenterology (GI) (Department of Medicine), and the Medical Director of Endoscopy at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
CLINICAL EXPERTISE
Dr. Yong’s main areas of clinical expertise are in pancreatic and biliary diseases, advanced endoscopy and oncology. She performs the following procedures: gastroscopy (EGD), banding, colonoscopy, enteroscopy, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), biliary stenting, luminal stenting, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and fine needle aspiration (FNA)/biopsy (FNB), fiducial placement, cystgastrostomy, wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE), argon plasma coagulation (APC).

Dr. Yong is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. She is a member of the Division of Gastroenterology and is the past Director of the GI Fellowship Program.
She is involved in teaching of medical students, general internal medicine residents, gastroenterology residents, and therapeutic endoscopy fellows. She was the recipient of the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Ambulatory Teaching Award in 2014.
